Margin: A Day Without Internet – A Poem

LifeChurch.tv is doing a series on having Margin in our lives -- I wrote a poem last fall when I didn’t have internet, and I think it fits in perfectly.

A Day Without Internet

A day without internet feels FREE.
No email to worry about, all wires unplugged.
Disconnecting is easy, and I can be fully here.
Although it won’t last, a part of me wants it to.
Oh well, I guess that’s what sabbaths are for.
Hmm… maybe I should start observing!

Other things I learnt:
-Texting is actually useful.
-I can sleep in time!

…that was my prayer as the list of churches involved with one prayer this year rolled across the screen. 2000 churches… WOW!

The OnePrayer series is almost done at #churchonline (There’s one more experience you can catch at 7am CT/8am ET Friday morning), but the effects of OnePrayer will continue.

Hope this inspires some of you to invite friends/strangers/whomever God leads you/challenges you to invite to Church, especially during Easter. If it’s awkward inviting them to your home Church, you could invite them to one of the 14 experiences at Church Online (Online times on the right) – there’s one experience every day of the week starting this Saturday! Most people who check out church (online or physical) do so because someone invited them. I personally first visited Church Online because a gamer told me to check it out. This Easter, LifeChurch.tv has provided some practical ways to make Easter Visible Online – please check them out and consider helping make Easter Visible Online – you could play a part in changing someone’s life forever! Easter is here, and it is the one time every year that a ton of people open up their hearts to God, just a little, and are willing to check out church again. This year let’s make Easter Visible Online. One Prayer: Have you not heard? (Part 2/2)

This post is a bit more personal take on One Prayer last year. Last year, when One Prayer was announced, I was quite blown away by the plans. Uniting churches across the globe – across denominations, countries and continents… sharing resources, devotionals and video teaching… planting 500 new churches… being the church to the world. I’m sure each of these things were dreamt of seperately before. But seeking to accomplish all these things together, united – I was rocked. I was so blown away that I thought, “Great idea, would be nice to see it actually happen”. I didn’t think it was possible to do something of this magnitude successfully. But I was glad to be proven wrong. The video below was the most powerful in helping me realize the magnitude of what was indeed happening – it’s a list of the churches that were involved in One Prayer last year.

So how was One Prayer last year? Mind blowingly successful. Churches were united. Churches shared devotionals together and contributed video teaching for other churches to use. The body of Christ fasted and prayed together. Christians walked their talk and practically served their communities together. Money was raised to plant 500 churches in 18 months in India, Cambodia, China and Sudan – so far, 250 of these churches have already been planted. WOW! Please prayerfully consider being involved in One Prayer this year, even if all you do is say one prayer. You can find out more at the One Prayer website.
