Worried about an Exam?

I was planning to write about the joys of completion upon finishing exams. Facing a tough exam caused me to change course. Writing an exam/completing a project is usually followed by worry. Here is some encouragement I dug up concerning worry:

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? (Matt 6:27, NIV)

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:4-7, ESV)

Cast[ing] all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (1Pe 5:7, ESV)
- The word for “cast” here is “epirrhiptoĢ„”, meaning “to throw upon”. I’m reminded of casting a spell in World of Warcraft.

Message on Worry from the Hostage series at LifeChurch.tv

Worrying about my exam isn’t going to affect how well I did – worrying won’t add a single mark to my exam. Praying about it might affect the results, but will definitely lead to the peace of God. If you’re worried about something, join me in choosing not to worry about it, but casting it onto God.
