This past weekend at lifegroup online we discussed addictions (link to video study). There are many things in our lives that we would not consider an addiction, but they might indeed be addictions.
One of my such addictions is technology. I don’t mean using technology, for example an iPod, but I mean technology itself. I can spend hours researching technology. Figuring out how to use a video streaming tool when I don’t need to. Trying to install a new operating system. Creating a website. More relevantly, learning how to use wordpress. I have probably spent upwards of 15 hours in starting this blog – testing out both wordpress.com vs. installing it myself, and meticulously searching for a theme.
Technology is one of my idols that can displace God in my life, and so I have to be on constant guard. How about you? Is there anything in your life that’s an invisible addiction?
